Day 1
We will meet you at the airport or harbor of Sorong city. After that, we will transfer you to Pelabuhan Rakyat (meaning People's Harbour) and organize your transfer by ferry boat to Port of Waisai in Raja Ampat. The ferry boat will take around 2 hours to reach its destination. We will transfer you to a beach resort where you will stay during your tours in the islands. After taking a rest for around 2 hours, tour participants can enjoy snorkeling at the house reef of the resort. After that, at around 16:30, we will do birdwatching around the complex of the resort.
Birds such as Palm Cockatoo, Pied Imperial Pigeon, Beach Kingfisher, and Willie Wagtail can be found in the trees and jetty of the resort.
Day 2
Early in the morning at 04:30, we will wake up. After having some tea or coffee and make some preparations, we will go by boat to the entrance area of Kabui bay. Reaching our destination, we will continue our trip by hiking up the slopes of the forest to the site of Wilson's Bird of Paradise. It takes around 1 hour to reach the site. We will watch the paradise bird until around 08:30 and then walk back to the beach. Some birds such as Pacific Swallow, Brahminy Kite, Torresian Crow, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Common Tern, Lesser-crested Tern, as well as Eclectus Parrot and Sulphur-crested Cockatoo can be seen in the area. The morning birdwatching activity can be continued after we return to the resort. Tour participants can enjoy snorkeling at the house reef.
In the afternoon, we will go to the nearby beach to watch more passerine birds including Yellow-faced Myna, Mimic Meliphaga, Beautiful Fruit Dove, Coconut Lorikeet, Rufous-bellied Kookaburra, Pied Imperial Pigeon, Sahul Sunbird, and Spangled Drongo. Sometimes Eastern Osprey could be seen in the area too. Nightwalk can be carried out along the road side.
Day 3
We will wake up at 05:00 and make preparation again. After drinking tea, or coffee and some biscuits, we will go hiking up the slope for twenty five minutes. After that we will sit at a bench and wait for the Red Bird of Paradise to come to its lek and dance. We shall watch them until around 09:00 and then continue our activity by birding along the roadside. Birds such as Glossy-mantled Manucode, Scarlet-breasted Fruit Dove, Hooded Butcherbird, Pinon Imperial Pigeon, and Brown-headed Crow, Variable Goshawk can be watched in the area. Back to the resort, we will have lunch and take a rest. In the afternoon, we will go to a site near Gam island to enjoy swimming and snorkeling as well as birding. After sunset, we will go to a nearby Nyetreiram island to watch Coconut Crab. We will return to the resort at 06:00 and then have dinner and take a rest.
Day 4
We will do general birdwatching by car to the airport area. After that we will have lunch and then continue birding again along the road side to find Palm Cockatoo, Great-billed Parrot, Common Paradise Kingfisher, Coconut Lorikeet, Moluccan King Parrot, coastal birds such as Whimbrel, Lesser Frigatebird, Yellow-Eastern Wagtail, and Violet-necked Lory, Oriental Dollarbird, Rainbow Bee-eater, Yellow-billed Kingfisher, Ruby-throated Myzomela and etc.
Day 5
Today we will do a long trip to Piaynemo and then upon return, we will stop at Arborek, and then Pasir Timbul (Sand Bank to enjoy the view).
Day 6
A trip to Kabui bay will allow us to see the magnificent view of karst formations in Wawiyai viewpoint and Batu Pencil. We can enjoy birdwatching at the beach of Lesser Urai island or at the beach of Gam island that faces the Kabui bay. Birds such as Spice Imperial Pigeon, Singing Starling, Olive-backed Sunbird, and seabirds such as Lesser-crested Tern, Lesser Frigatebird, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Blyth's Hornbill, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Eastern Osprey can be seen in the area.
Day 7
We will do easy birding in the morning until lunch time. After that we will return to the resort. At 14:00, we will go back to Sorong city by ferry boat. Transfer to hotel.
