Forest and farmland areas in Sonder town and Mount Mahawu in the north region of Tomohon are highly recommended sites. The duration of birding in this area can be as short as 3 days to as long as 1 week.
For the identification of birds, birdwatchers can use the field guide book of Birds of Indonesia by James A. Eaton et al, and Merlin app for cell phone use.
